Hysteroscopic IUD Removal
Donation protected
Hi folx! My name is Lauren and I use any pronouns.
I recently went in to the gynecologist’s office to get my Skyla IUD removed, they were unable to find the string to pull on the IUD and remove it safely. So, I essentially went through the pain of getting my cervix widened for nothing. I am now having to have a Hysteroscopic IUD Removal, where they put a camera inside of my uterus to locate the string and remove the IUD. This procedure costs $375, after insurance.
I have been asking myself two questions, as an activist and a student. throughout this process.
1. Why do I HAVE to go through this pain to prevent pregnancy by penetrative sex, where is the budget for penile contraceptive? We have passed the time for this to be in conversation.
2. Why am I having to PAY ANYONE to remove something, that could be life threatening, if it were to remain longer, from my uterus.
I am asking if you could donate any amount big or small, to help me cover the $375 cost? I have until my appointment on April 14th.
Thank you!
Queer love,
Lauren
