Feed Our Hospital Workers, Support Local Business

Donation protected
We don't have to tell you that as COVID-19 continues to spread, New York City is quickly turning into one of the hardest hit areas in the world.

We are The Deep End, a restaurant on the Brooklyn/Queens border. Our mission is to do our part to help, and bring free hot meals to the healthcare workers who are on the front lines of the fight against coronavirus.

We haven't even hit the peak of this pandemic, and it's no secret that hospitals are already overwhelmed by the wave that is hitting them. Our brave doctors, nurses, and support staff are working selflessly in our underprepared local hospitals and they deserve our help. Sometimes a little thing like a hot dinner goes a long way.

How will this work?
We have contacted hospital administrators, worked out logistics, and  been given the green light to deliver to both Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and Brooklyn Hospital. These are both 24-hour hospitals, but their cafeterias shut down before dinner and don't open again until morning. We will feed staff during these hours they need it the most.

Why do we need your help?
We would do it on our own, but to be honest, we are out of money. The quarantine has shut down bars and restaurants except for deliveries. That was a necessary and important step to take, but without our main source of income, we aren't even sure how we will make rent on April 1st or pay our staff each week. So we are asking for donations to make this possible.

Your donations will not just feed hospital staff, they will help keep a struggling small business survive what is shaping up to be the worst economic crisis in recent memory, and keep our hardworking staff employed when so many people are losing their jobs.

Are you up to the challenge? If there are extra donations, what will you do?
Yes! We have many years experience in high-volume catering, from 300 guest weddings to 3,000 person festivals and fairs. We have the capacity to cook and deliver up to 200 meals per day.

If donations exceed our capacity, we have friends at many other restaurants who are in equally dire straits, and we will happily partner with them and new hospitals as necessary to keep pace with donations - the sky is the limit.

How will the money be used?
Wyckoff Heights and Brooklyn Hospital have ~75 person teams. Every $15 will buy a meal, every $1000 will come close to feeding the whole team.

You are helping make sure we can keep our staff employed and lights on throughout the crisis, make sure our food is packed to current hospital safety regulations, and ensure adequate protective gear for our delivery drivers.

What can I do to help?
Are you a hospital wanting to receive deliveries? Please have somebody with the credentials to authorize deliveries and coordinate logistics email Jon at [email redacted]

Donations over $1000? You can also donate to us directly to avoid payment processing delays, contact the email above.

Even if you aren't able to donate - we totally understand, many people are hurting right now - please share on social media to help get the word out.

Together we will weather this storm. Deliciously and with community support.
