We are all saddened from this loss. He was such a good father, brother, uncle. Words can’t even describe the hurt we all feel, especially my aunt and his children. Joel came into my aunts life when she least expected it. He took on the responsibility of her and her 8 children without hesitation. Where ever she was he was right there, her backbone. He gave her life when she needed it. He was a provider, her best friend, and absolutely everything to his three girls. They say that people don’t take it serious until it claims our own. In this case, we have lost one of our own. Joel worked hard to provide for his family. He loved to cook as well. As you can see in the picture he holds his plantains up! In his eyes, no one could cook better and that was ok as long as we all had a plate :) As a result of Covid-19 we have lost a loved one but more than anything my aunt lost her best friend, her husband, her BACKBONE.
If you feel it in your heart please help this family! These funds will help cover the cost of Joel’s Funeral/Burial costs as well as take some of the financial burden off of my aunt Ileana.
This is Joel Gomez. He was 37 years old. He had 3 biological daughters but a stepfather to 8. On Thursday 3/26 he fell sick with symptoms such as Headache and a cough. On 3/27 he was experiencing N/V/D and could not taste anything. On 3/28 he felt so weak that he couldn’t take it anymore. He was taken to the hospital (Woodhull Medical center in Brooklyn, NY) via rescue squad. He spent from Saturday 3/28 until Tuesday 3/31 in the ER waiting to get admitted. After getting admitted, his respiratory demands worsened and he had to be intubated. The doctors said that he remained stable. Thereafter, his kidney function began to deteriorate. This morning at almost 5am my aunt gets a call that his heart stopped twice and that they had to perform CPR but that they didn’t know if they could keep doing that. At 6:29am they called to say that he had passed.
Please people stay at home! This is serious!
