RN Volunteering in the Solomons
Can you help Aliria be a volunteer nurse in the Solomon
Islands?
About Aliria
As a registered nurse of almost 6 years, I currently work in
the intensive care unit in Phoenix, Arizona. After completing my Master of
Nursing Education degree in 2012, my passion for nursing was reignited. As a nurse,
I have always felt a connection with and sense of responsibility for volunteering
and have had the great privilege to regularly volunteer in the mobile free clinic in
Phoenix as well as in Mexico, Jamaica, and Peru.
The Solomon Islands
Solar and Medical Mission
As fate would have it, I have been given the unique
opportunity to work as a volunteer nurse in the Solomon Islands this May. Along
with other healthcare professionals and volunteers, I will be directly involved
in carrying out the medical missions of Marovo Medical (http://www.marovomedical.org/friend/index.html),
a reputable organization focused on providing safe medical treatment and sustainable
healthcare. Among many impressive accomplishments, the group has improved the
bleak conditions of the Seghe Hospital by installing solar panels and window
screens, and recently completed construction of an operating room.
While I will be using the majority of my vacation time and
working overtime to fund this mission, the expenses for this trip are much more
than any other volunteer trip with which I have been involved. Therefore,
because I am so confident in this organization's values and goals, I have made
my commitment official. Any money donated will be greatly appreciated and make
it possible for me to be a part of this medical mission.
In Appreciation for
your contribution
As a token of appreciation, every $20 donated will go toward
a opportunity to win an award-winning art quilt by Anne Muñoz (*donate $100 and get an additional 6th opportunity*). This original quilted
batik of the southwestern landscape is one of Anne's many masterpieces. She has
generously donated this piece in support of my volunteer commitment in the
Solomon Islands. 100% of any extra money raised will go directly to the foundation
and the people of the Solomon Islands.
