Support Covid-19 Myanmar-American Families

Support Covid-19 Myanmar-American Victims (New York) Covid-19 has taken a heavy toll on many people around the world. However, New York has been hit the hardest with its death toll being the highest not only in the United States but also the world. New York, especially New York City, is where many Myanmar(Burmese)-Americans live for the past many years. Elmhurst in Queens, one of the five boroughs within the New York City, has been dubbed “the epicenter of the epicenter” because of the number of infection and death have been possibly the highest until days ago. Until now, it is one of the most talked about neighborhoods when it comes to Covid-19 news. Myanmar-Americans are among many people that suffered from Covid-19, as some of them also served as frontline essential workers- doctors, nurses, food industry, postal workers, MTA, NYPD, etc. We salute all of them for serving. Now, we have seen and heard that our very own community members have also died from this horrible virus. Many families are devastated with their loved ones leaving them so soon and unexpectedly, and were not prepared for this devastation. National Humanitarian Fundraising for Myanmar (NHFMM), a coalition of New York City based Myanmar-Americans groups, has come together at this extraordinarily difficult time to help the community within its capacity. The NHFMM consists of various not-for-profit organizations and individuals from the Myanmar-Americans community. Given the current situation, the NHFMM is to provide - * free consultations on various issues including limited medical and legal questions; * financial assistance to the community members whose families are directly affected by Covid-19. (Note: our support will prioritize for those who lost a family member due to Covid-19) Therefore, we are asking you, as a community member or a friend, to support this valuable and important endeavors.
