2 Moms & the Fab 4 on the Block for Good!

When we merged our families into a "2 moms and the fab 4" rainbow crew over 7 years ago, we found a sweet little rental on what turned out to be a magical block with the best neighbors in the world. We fell in love with this group of people who've become extended family, and we knew we needed to find a way to stay forever.
We have been incredibly privileged to be in a rental that has allowed us to blend our family & build community. We've connected with our neighbors in ways we never could have imagined - from a yard-to-yard Minni-sorta State Fair when the pandemic canceled it, to a 19-person text chain used daily to lend and borrow ingredients or wish happy birthdays.
We have been working toward the goal of homeownership, in hopes that a time would come to make it happen not just in general but on this specific block with this group of people, and it has - faster than we expected! We have the chance to purchase a little house on the very same block this fall but have a limited time to make it happen. So we'd love your support!
While it's not particularly comfortable for us to put a big ask out into the world, with supportive nudges from friends, we are leaning in and coming up with some creative, community-driven ways to ensure we have a downpayment, feasible mortgage payments, and can put in a necessary egress window.
Our friend Kara heard about this possibility for us and proposed a community fundraiser. Those of you who know us will not be surprised that we were more than a little hesitant. We are aware of our considerable privilege and feel so much gratitude for all that we have and receive. Kara was wonderfully persistent (thank you, Kara :)) and pushed us to think about the fact that homeownership doesn't come equally easily for everyone for lots of reasons. And that asking for help is hard! but it’s what community is for. Thinking about her many nudges to lean in, we decided to go for it, recognizing that while we've intentionally engaged with our kids in giving, we've not so easily or readily shown them the power of vulnerably asking for and receiving help.
The kids have brought their usual excitement and creativity to this big goal, and they're busy crocheting and organizing in preparation for a family craft sale as well as a yard and bake sale. They're dogsitting and shoveling and dreaming up summer "kid camps" all to add to the house fund. We're all in!
While this page is about raising funds, we have often been in the position of wanting to but not being able to give monetarily, and we truly value and appreciate your support in any form. If you'd like to contribute items to our June 3 yard sale, let us know! If you're able to help us paint or move in September (we believe it can happen!), we'd love it. And if you'd consider letting some folks know about our fundraiser by sharing this page, that would mean a ton.
We feel so excited imagining being in a new home with our kids, celebrating the fact that it happened because a whole community of people contributed time, money, and energy to make it possible.
With so much gratitude - Sara, Rochelle & the fab 4.
