2 year old Aries with heart worms

Hi, my name is Kristin. My family and I adopted Aries from a rescue at the end of December 22. We took him to the vet three days after getting him and everything was fine. He was put on flea and heart worm preventative medication.

He just celebrated his 2nd birthday on September 6th. We took him for a vet for a yearly check up and found out he has heart worms. The vet said he could have had them before we got him but the worms weren’t grown enough to come up positive on our first test.

Without treatment he will die. It’s a long process where he will spend nights at the vet. Antibiotics, steroids, injections and tranquilizers as he will not allowed to be overly active.

Our children (all girls 15, 12, 10 & 10) are devastated. We explained the situation and the long process and how expensive it will be to save his life.

He is our baby boy and his life matters as much as any of ours. The girls decided that they would forgo any future trips and plans to save his life.

Please help us help him.
