200 Big Cats in Mexico Need Help
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Bobbi Brink, Founder and Director of Lions Tigers & Bears in Alpine, CA.
On July 6th, Mexican officials raided and confiscated ~200 big cats from a facility owned by the Black Jaguar White Tiger Foundation on the outskirts of Mexico City.
Now, nearly 200 lions, tigers, jaguars and other big cats are left languishing and need help urgently in Ajusco, Mexico. Many are in poor condition, underweight and suffering from open wounds.
As a globally accredited big cat and bear sanctuary, Lions Tigers & Bears has been following this facility closely for many years and informing people of the true nature of their operation - as a pseudo-sanctuary operating under false pretenses, exploiting the animals under their care.
A true sanctuary would NEVER allow breeding and public contact with their big cats, as this only perpetuates the issues of captive abuse for these apex predators. In fact, anytime you see a facility with a lot of baby animals and allowing public handling and petting - this is a major red flag that the operation is NOT a sanctuary; it is an operation fueling the breeding and exploitation of animals for profit.
Lions Tigers & Bears has been in contact with a team of veterinarians assisting on the ground.
We would like to raise $5,000 in funding to help cover veterinary supplies for their team to provide the animals with critical treatment.
Can you help us meet our goal? With ~200 big cats to tend to, they will need abundant supplies including wound care, antiseptic, dewormer, pain treatment, and more. They are also microchipping each cat and will need supplies for that.
While we work to address the immediate needs of these cats, we are also working closely with a team of stakeholders, accredited sanctuaries, and government officials to formulate an action plan for next steps to ultimately help transfer these animals to TRUE reputable sanctuaries, including our own. It is at true sanctuaries that they can receive the lifetime care they deserve and eliminate any risk of needing to be rescued again.
Your donation means so much. All funds raised up to our goal will be used for the purchase of veterinary supplies. Any additional funds will go where needed most to ensure the care and rescue of current and future rescued animals.
