About Us:
The Columbus Scottish Festival's mission is to offer Southern Indiana a festival that highlights the heritage, customs, and skills of the Scottish people. This annual event brings Highland traditions and culture to Columbus and the greater South Central Indiana area. The festival hosts an amazing array of Highland events including athletics, dancing, and sheepdog demonstrations. There are also reenactment camps, Scottish clans, highland bagpipe bands, children's activities, Celtic food and merchandise, and musical entertainment from ballads to Celtic rock. Started in 1990, we are looking forward to our 28th festival this September!
The Problem, 2018's Festival:
Unfortunately, we got 5.5" of rain during our 2018 festival, and while many brave souls came out (despite the very Scottish weather) and had a great time, our attendance was down considerably. Due to this, the 2018 festival was a financial disaster and depleted all of our financial reserves.
The Ask:
Running a festival is expensive, and we need funding in order to get the 2019 festival started. Any amount that you would be able to give will allow us to pay those bills that we have due before the Festival starts such as: getting the Tents set up, hiring all the Great Musicians, securing our fabulous Festival space, making sure we have the all important port-a-loos, and more.
A Normal Scottish Festival Weekend:
...And Last Year's Festival:
Levels of support To Be Announced:
We will have various levels of support with rewards available to those who give coming in the near future! If you donate today, these items will be made available to you retroactively.
Thank you so much, and we look forward to seeing you this September 14th and 15th at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds!
