Douglas Berry had cataract surgery on September 14, 2021. Unfortunately, there were complications, What we had hoped would be over in the space of a week is looking more like a month of follow-up visits, specialist referrals, more medication, and more surgery. While Doug does have Medicare coverage, even $35 copayments add up quickly; furthermore, he is currently in the "donut hole" on his medication coverage, and we've already spent several hundred dollars on multiple bottles of eye drops that he's currently using up to four times a day.

We are both losing work hours over this, as Doug's various appointments are all over Silicon Valley, and he is not cleared to drive. We have absolutely no idea how much this is likely to cost overall, so we have set a fairly high target to both account for unexpected expenses and lost wages.
