2020 Kabul University Attack - Victim Assistance

Hello.

My name is Waise Azimi. In 2015 I spent a year working as a senior producer at Tolo TV, a TV station based in Kabul in Afghanistan.

I am launching this GoFund Me campaign to support someone I worked with closely during my time working at Tolo TV.

A few days ago I discovered that his sister had been badly injured during the 2020 November 2nd attack at Kabul University. Three gunmen stormed the campus and proceeded to massacre 35 people and wound at least 50 others in the attack. You can read about the assault on the university here:

His sister managed to escape the massacre by jumping from the 2nd-floor window of her classroom but she was badly injured during her attempt to escape. She broke both legs and badly damaged her face in the fall.

She is now recovering at a hospital in Kabul.

My friend has spent 1300 USD for her medical treatment. However, he has been out of work for many months and is likely to face additional expenses for the treatment of his sister.

Not wanting to make his sister, himself, or the rest of his family a potential target for further retaliation he has not gone public about what has happened to his sister. However, for those of you that may need additional information about any of these details, you are welcome to message me directly and I would be happy to share what I can with you.

I have set a target of 1300 USD to help cover the costs for the treatment for his sister but I sincerely hope this GoFund Me campaign might be able to exceed that figure, to cover future expenses his sister will no doubt face for her treatment and recovery.

These are extremely hard times right now and I understand that money might be very tight. However, if you could spare 5 or even 10 USD that would go a long way to help my longtime friend pay for the medical treatment for his sister.

All donations will be transferred over directly to my friend when this campaign is completed.
