2021 Pryor Legacy Project - MO HIVES KC

MO Hives KC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in 2019. They believe that a thriving bee population brings beauty, cultivates curiosity, and empowers people living in our community. The two founders Dr. Marion Pierson and Brian Reeves have been hard at work to make this vision a reality.
MO Hives KC is working towards building a healthier pollinator population and transforming vacant lots in the community by establishing bee apiaries (bee farms). This initiative will develop a world where Urban planning designs include more sustainable green space allocation and pollinator-friendly planning.
Their mission doesn't just include bees. Through many partnerships with local school districts they have began to cultivate curious minds. MO Hives provides education on bee keeping opportunities and entomology. This allows students and community members to engage with their surrounding environment and make an impact themselves.
The Pryor class of 2021 has promised to help MO Hives KC bring this mission to life. With the $12,000 gained through your support we will build an outdoor education center in the heart of the urban core. This center will provide a space for all community members, with all abilities to learn and grow. Overall, MO Hives will be able to provide education, fulfill their mission, and bring beauty to Kansas City.
