My name is Matus Huska and I was born in 1980 in a small town in Povazka Bystrica in old Czechoslovakia. Both of my parents were driven and had unique jobs that led to me learning a lot of my mechanical skills. My father was an engine engineer in a factory that was making scooters. My mother was a chemical worker in a factory for testing jet engines.
My very first experience with anything related to racing was with a motorcycle (at only age four) when my father was trying to expose us to racing (in the hopes it would keep us out of trouble, as teenagers) and it worked! Our childhood and teenage years we spent mostly around racing and race tracks. At the time, Povazska Bystrica was at the heart of enduro and motocross races (this was ahead of the 2000s) and we rarely missed events. My first appearance was at a rallycross race at ten years old and as a prerunner and safety check person. Later in life I began participating in more amature races in autocross at BOAS. Those races were more a focus on time, regularity, and orientation.
This led me into my early 20s when I decided to make a move to the USA. I was 23 years old and all racing was put on standby. Then about six years ago my younger brother started to race again in Slovakia. During my visits home to Europe, I couldn’t help myself, and started to utilize his race cars to participate in some races. That all led me up to about two and half years ago when I decided to take my mechanical skills and start building and racing cars again. After a year of hard work and waiting for parts from all over Europe and USA I’ve finished the build of an 2011 Audi TTS. This car was built by FIA (Federation Internationale de L’ Automobile) so we could have the opportunity to race under all sanctioning bodies over the United States (and hopefully Canada) at some point.
The exciting thing about this car is that there are only a handful of this car built for racing in the United States (three in total). We knew we had a long way ahead of us to set up the car, but we had a mission to win. And as it would turnout, we quickly set the course to win … in our class, we were winning the whole season. However, we were wanting to prove ourselves in the fast class of GTS3 cars (BMW M3) in the NASA Rocky Mountain Region and we were proving ourselves with faster times and continued recognition from our competitors and race directors. My love for perfection and my passion in the sport has landed us in the top team in the GTS class and meeting our goal of making a lap in under two minutes at the High Plains Raceway (we broke the record for fastest lap of 1:57:5 and a steady pace of 1:58)!
During the season we’ve competed in many races under WRL (world racing league) in endurance 8+8 hour races across the United States. My motto was to win races and come home with my car and crew unharmed. We were able to meet that goal and look ahead to next year. Our goal for next season is to race the full season in the NASA Rocky Mountain Region with some additional races in Kansas, Utah, and California. Our main goal is the 100th Race to the Clouds PPIH (Pikes Peak International Hill Climb) on June 26, 2022.
All this has led me to my ask. We are asking that you would consider sponsoring the car at PPIH. I would be more than happy to put your name(if you want to) or your business name on the car. Also, your name(if you want to) or business name would be visible by all spectators at the race and fan fest the Friday before race day in Colorado Springs (approx 100K-1,000,000 people in attendance). Additionally, the vehicle will be equipped with a live stream from inside of the car focusing both forward and on the driver. This will all be streamed on Facebook and YouTube.
Thank-you for considering this sponsorship opportunity, as we have put a lot of work and heart into our craft and we are hopeful that you would consider being sponsor for me.
Thank you!
