2022 Vancouver Black Independent Film Festival

Hi, I am Lincoln Thorne, the founder and curator of Vancouver's new Black Film Festival. I and our nonprofit society, Fade to Black Entertainment, would like to invite you to an Afro Diaspora petspective of independent film & video. We are building on last years anugral Vancouver Black independent film festival(VBIFF), showcasing filmmakers musicians and media projects by Local and International artists that uplifting our talents in the community and abroad.

The event takes place in the heart of the city's east side,The Cultch historic theater; where they for years is Vancouver’s most diverse and innovative arts and cultural hub, The Cultch has created meaningful, impactful connections across communities for nearly 50 years. Championing emerging artists and new creative independent voices to productions representing films, theater, music,etc.

These independent filmmakers from local to around the globe distinguish themselves from stories about melanated people's expressions, joys, struggles, and triumphs not typically seen in mainstream western media. We come to you today in hopes that your investment can help support the festival in this celebration that goes into running an event, supporting the filmmakers and presenting it all to the Vancouver audience.

We ask for donations toward our endeavors in the opening and closing of the festival November 27th/28, 2022, as we've been working hard to raise those funds since we discovered our grant(s) was turned down in Sept of this year. Our government doesn't automatically invest in Balck films (it's a lottery), and I'm working hard to change theirs and the judges minds. Because the need is great, and we cannot wait; it's as simple as that!! Non the less we are still determined, self-funded, open to private funding and rely on in-kind services. We are doing this so that our community can have access and exposure to interest in film & multi media to growing a network with like minded filmmakers, artists and the viewing public for future generations to come.

Any amounts possible would be greatly appreciated and would help with the financial burdens these types of events entail.
