2022-2023 MVHS Spartan Wrestling Fundraiser

Welcome to the 2022-2023 season of Mountain View Spartan Wrestling!

Spartan wrestling is back and, for the first time in decades, is practicing on campus! With strong support from family and friends, the team had its best season ever in 2022 and hopes to exceed those results in 2023.

In 2022, the team:

1) won the El Camino Division

2) finished 3rd in the SCVAL league and had 2 individual weight class champions

3) sent 7 wrestlers to CCS championships and had 3 medalists

4) sent 1 wrestler to the California State Championship tournament

The 2023 team roster currently has 50 wrestlers -- the largest Spartan squad ever and ~ 20% larger than last year. We believe the growth reflects the fact that the students appreciate the hard work, the tight team bonds, the team's success, and our core values. It is an incredible group of student-athletes, reflecting the full range of students at MVHS. It is one of the few "no-cut" sports where everyone has a chance to compete, and we endeavor to continue that tradition in future years.

We want to continue to build on the team's past success. The team has both ongoing operating expenses and needs to build the foundation for future years. As part of that, we would like to support the ability of wrestlers to participate and practice all year long, something that is critical for competitive wrestlers.

To keep our program competitive and on par with the other teams we compete against, the needs of our program far exceed what our school budgets are able to provide. Therefore, our fundraising goals include covering this season and establishing the foundation for future years. Specifically, our known requirements are as follows:

* Tournaments: $2,000

* Equipment: $3,000

* General/Misc expenses: $1,000

* Wrestling club participation: $5,000-$10,000

Our goal of $10,000 includes coverage of this year's expenses. We have asked each wrestler to target raising $500 in tax-deductible donations.
