2023 Baby Boy Fuapau

My name is MayChee and I am Pakou's sister and sister-in-law to Poese Fuapau.

Poese and Pakou will be welcoming their 6th child, a boy, this coming April. We as their family are so very happy and excited for their growing family.

At Pakou's 20th week anatomy scan, they discovered that baby boy has a D-TGA dextro transposition of the great arteries. "A birth defect of the heart in which the two main arteries carrying blood out of the heart – the main pulmonary artery and the aorta – are switched in position, or “transposed.”

Baby boy will need heart surgery to correct the two arteries soon after birth. Pakou and Poese will need to deliver baby boy at UC-San Francisco Medical Center (they reside in Sacramento) as this facility will meet baby boy's surgical and medical needs. Baby boy Fuapau will then need to stay at this hospital for healing and monitoring after his surgery. As of right now, it looks like it will be anywhere between 30 days-3months for baby boy's recovery time.

Pakou and Poese will need to be with baby boy in SF as well as Poese will need to work and provide financially for their family of 8 with the addition of baby boy. Baby boy will be welcomed home by 5 older siblings (ages raging from 3-9).

Baby boy is looking well so far despite his heart defect. He is so loved by his immediate and extended families.

This fund is being organized in hope to help lift and carry the financial load that the Fuapau family will face in these next few months such as travel expenses, medical expenses, household expenses, food, etc..as well as future medical care and necessities for future appointments and costs that may arise.
