2023 BC Wildfire Evacuated Pets Assistance Fund

Hi! My name is Nicole and I am the Founder of the Animal Food Bank. We are a non-funded, volunteer-based organization working in BC that provides pet food, supplies and vet care to pets of low-income and homeless individuals. We also provide this support to pets of evacuees.

The BC Wildfire Season has come early and in full force and we are bracing ourselves for an aggressive wildfire season.

Why donate to us?

We are grassroots, on the ground help, networked with and helping many sister organizations and the only pet food organization able to provide pet food on a mass scale quickly and effectively. Funding for pet food and supplies is not provided to evacuation centres.

We are not limited by red tape and policy and so can help whoever we need, whenever. For example, if a pet is evacuating and has been injured, we can step in to pay the vet fees without having to waste precious time seeing an "on staff" vet (we don't have one), or perform a means test (where the human has to prove need).

We also are committed to working collaboratively and have formed an unofficial tripod of pet food supply during wildfires and natural disasters in BC by working closely with Four Paws Pet Food Bank in Kamloops and The Good Haul in Vancouver. By donating to our fire relief fund, you are supporting not just us, but organizations and pets throughout the province.

Our mission is greater than pet food and we are nimble and able to pivot quickly to deliver necessary services. The last thing someone should have to worry about when evacuating with their pet, is how to feed or care for the pet.

Please help us by donating to our 2023 BC Wildfire Pet Evacuation Fund. There are already 63 active fires burning in BC. We are already seeing evacuations. We need to be able to respond in an instant and cannot do without your help.
