2023 Big Truck Fundraiser

Donation protected
Dear Community, Friends, Family, and Allies,

To celebrate Caribbean Equality Project's annual participation in pride events all across NYC, in collaboration with our community partners, we need your help. June 2023 commemorates our 8th year advocating for Caribbean LGBTQ+ voices in NYC. Pride is still a protest, and we will march and dance to continue centering joy and affirming Caribbean LGBTQ+ identities under the colorfully inclusive theme of "Live Pridefully: Love & Resilience of Queer Caribbeans of NYC." In a country that continues to threaten our rights and lives, this aligns with our effort to present a contingent inclusive of our Afro- and Indo-Caribbean cultural backgrounds and ancestry, as we advocate for a more transformative society — based on love, diversity, and equity.

This year, our continuous goal is to honor the legacy of the "Big Truck," a tradition co-founded by the late Trinidad-born activist Colin Robinson of Caribbean Pride in the late '90s and continued by Trinidadian organizer Tina Arniotis of Chutney Pride and Guyanese immigrant and LGBTQ rights activist, Mohamed Q. Amin of the Caribbean Equality Project.

Join us as we #LivePridefully and celebrate our diverse Caribbean heritage during Pride Month 2023 in New York City!

To fully execute our vision and represent the Caribbean LGBTQ+ community, we need YOUR support! We humbly ask our Caribbean Rainbow family, established community partners, friends, family, and allies for financial support to help defray the costs of the above participation in the 2023 pride parades and fundraising events.

Some of these exuberant costs include but are not limited to: parade registrations, truck rentals, entertainment (DJs and sound), decorations, cost of the venue for our upcoming Pride Fete social (our CEP Pride Fundraisers, held in conjunction with our community partners) and Caribbean swag (giveaway items) for distribution at the events mentioned above. With your financial sponsorship, we hope to accomplish the goals that we have outlined.

As part of our programming, we will be creating an unprecedented opportunity for the Queer & Gender Non-Conforming Caribbean community in the diaspora, to celebrate our vibrant culture at 2 PRIDE Marches/Parades in 2023:

March with us in cultural and carnival-inspired apparel, your country colors, or come just as you are, as we proudly celebrate our Caribbean LGBTQ+ identities!

PLEASE DON'T FORGET YOUR FLAGS!

We here at CEP appreciate your support and thank you kindly in advance!
