2023 Burke Tennis Club Operating Budget

The Burke Tennis Club, a registered 501c3, has three main goals:
1.) Bring affordable rated/verified tennis to our immediate community, reducing all costs/driving/scheduling barriers, ultimately making competition more equitable and accessible
2.) Reduce the carbon footprint of tennis competitions, keeping competition local, no need to drive 1.5-2 hours for the equivalent amount or less of actual tennis playtime
3.) Bring the FREE Universal Tennis Rating to all FCPS Tennis programs so that more students get access to FREE verified tennis and build competitive profiles that may lead to scholarships.
The money that we raise in this fundraiser will meet our 2023 operating costs that include:
- The Universal Tennis platform has increased the vendor fee to $1,000/year + 10% of revenues or $2,500/year and can then have no minimum $5 fee, the players only pay $12/event to Universal Tennis each time. I may need the latter so that I don't have to pay $10/hour for the FCPS courts.
- To register with FCPS for "Community Use" we need a one million liability insurance policy that costs $1,000/year
- We hope to buy a tennis stringer Gamma X-6FC $750
- 20 boxes annually of High Tennis balls cans for $110 each = $2,110
- TOTAL: $3,860 + $1,000 or $3,860 + $2,500 = $4,860 or $6,360
We are on track to provide:
- 10 tournaments = 16+ players each = 160 players, with 32-45 matches each = 320-450 matches
- 30 match play events = 4-6 players each = 180 players with 8-9 matches each = 240-270 matches
- The short-term goal, getting 8 high schools fully on to UT, boys and girls, with 20 players per team avg. = 320, allow them to log 8 matches per team per gender per 15 sessions (6 singles, 3 doubles) = 2,160 matches
- 1st-year impact to allow students to get 2,720 new matches documented and verified, just in the High School team matches alone, that would be a savings of $54,000 to the Patriot District tennis playing community.
- In the first 2 weeks of LBSS Boys Tennis, we've logged "unverified" scores, as a result of intrateam matches during practices, 43 singles matches, 36 doubles matches logged
We do have a long-term vision:
- help Girls and Boys who normally would not ever have a competitive tennis verified record use it to get tennis scholarships
- encourage other local 501c3 tennis efforts and franchise them
- The long-term goal is to Get UTR into 27 high schools, boys and girls teams, with 20 players per team avg. = 1,080, allow them to log 27 matches per team per gender per 15 sessions (6 singles, 3 doubles) = 7,290 matches a season
