2023 Coffee Morning Mayo Roscommon Hospice
Following on from the success of last year’s fundraiser, I have decided to host another Coffee morning in 2023 in aid of the Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.
This charity is very close to my heart as my lovely Nanny passed away in the comfort of the nurses and staff in the Mayo hospice in Castlebar in November 2021. I witnessed first-hand the exceptional care that my Nanny was provided in her last few hours of life. Unfortunately Nanny passed away within hours of being transferred to the hospice and didn’t get more time to enjoy the state of the art palliative care facilities the hospice provides people during their most vulnerable days. The hospice provided a safe, warm and welcoming place for my family to say our goodbyes to a woman we cherished so dearly, at 98 years of age. There are 14 private suite rooms in the hospice with a hospital bed with a duvet, as well as leather recliner sofas and arm chairs and a wet room. Each patient has a private garden allowing them a connection with the outside world. The staff (nurses and care assistants) came around several times an hour and offered my family endless cups of tea and refreshments and displayed an abundance of empathy during a very difficult time for us.
Unfortunately, the hospice is dependent almost entirely on charitable donations from the public. Since the pandemic, their funds have been impacted due to the inability to host in-person coffee mornings for two years. I would be really grateful if you could donate the price of a coffee (or more!) to this worthy cause.
Thank you!
