ACR is helping solve the crisis and tragedy of unwanted and abandoned cats. ACR is dedicated to the health, well-being and welfare of all cats: domestic, stray, abandoned and feral. One of the ways we do this is by rescuing sick and injured community cats who will not survive without human intervention. Your donations enabled us to save many abandoned newborn kittens and cats like Sky, Lemon, Chex, and Frito - to name just a few!

Your Giving Tuesday donations will go toward saving more cats in urgent need. These are outdoor cats and kittens whose suffering would otherwise go unnoticed. At ACR, we value the lives of all cats, including alley cats.

Little SKY had a tough start to life. He was rescued with a degloved chin and upper respiratory infection. During surgery to fix his chin, it was discovered he also had an inward deviation of the sternum called pectus excavatum, which caused him to have breathing issues while under anesthesia. After healing from his chin surgery and URI, Sky wanted to bounce around and play, but couldn’t because of his breathing trouble.

He underwent an intense, complicated surgery to treat his pectus excavatum. The recovery period involved six weeks of vet checkups and frequent bandage changes to clean the surgery site and plate attached to his chest.

LEMON suffered a severe leg injury and was clearly in pain and her wounds were at risk of becoming infected. ACR rushed her to an emergency vet clinic, where she was treated. Lemon was given pain medication and X-rays were taken of her leg. The X-rays revealed poor Lemon had been shot; her right tibia was shattered and metal and bone fragments were scattered within the surrounding tissue.

Lemon had a metal plate and seven screws surgically affixed to the bone to stabilize it. For three months afterward, she had X-rays done every two weeks to monitor the bone’s healing. She is doing well now, running and jumping on all four paws.

Orphans, COCONUT and MOCHA were found all alone, dirty and dehydrated. They were taken to the shelter and immediately put on the urgent list as shelters don’t have the resources to feed babies 24/7. ACR immediately jumped into action to help these babies as they have so many times. The babies doubled their weight in the first few days and are thriving under their expert care.

Alley Cat Rescue rescued CHEX from a shelter as an urgent medical case. We immediately rushed Chex to a veterinarian, and X-rays showed his leg is fractured in two places.

Chex gets his leg checked and splinted each week, and he is on pain medication and bed rest to allow for healing. He needs X-rays every two weeks to monitor the fracture. He has a couple of months of recovery ahead of him, but the important thing is that he is safe and getting the treatment he needs.

Chex is getting the love and attention he deserves at his foster home and the vet’s office.

FRITO was found outside of a business, drastically undersized for his age, with a cleft lip and falling over.

When ACR saw Frito, they knew that they had to help him. Due to his cleft lip, he was at high risk of aspiration pneumonia. Frito also had ongoing respiratory infections and needed several vet visits and medication to get him healthy.

Frito was also diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia, or "wobbly kitten syndrome," by a neurologist and had to see a dental specialist to help with his cleft lip and dental issues. Alley Cat Rescue helped this gorgeous kitty with all the vet care he needed to improve his life.

Frito has recovered from many of his ailments that could be fixed, and we found him a great home with someone who has had experience with special needs cats.

Every cat deserves someone who cares about them and will help them—ACR is fortunate to be able to do this with your support. We can provide the care, the transport to the clinic, and the food, but in order to continue with this life-saving work, we need partners - people who care about putting an end to the suffering!
