2023 Pan Am Games: please help send a team!

Calling all Canadian Dressage supporters! Canadian dressage riders who have declared their intention to try to qualify for the Pan American Games 2023 are rallying to try to raise the additional funds necessary to send the team to Santiago, Chile in October and we need your help!

The budget for getting the team of horses, riders, grooms and support staff to Chile is well over $330,000 and while the majority of the expenses are covered by Equestrian Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee, there remains a gap of approximately $60,000 that we riders, along with EC, are working to close. The gap is in part a result of some increased costs and inflation across all sectors for getting the team to the Games and in part due to lack of significant funding from Sport Canada for all Equestrian sports. ALL of the money raised here will be ear marked for the 2023 Canadian Pan Am Dressage Team, with anything in excess of our goal going towards anticipated costs for future dressage programs and major games teams.  

The cost of managing and competing a top dressage horse is significant, and each athlete will spend well over $80,000 per year of their own money to train and compete one high performance horse. However, in addition to managing their own personal costs and funding needs, the community of declared riders is now working diligently to fundraise for the 2023 Pan Am Team through a number of initiatives, including this page, and have also generated some amazing ideas for the future with hopes that our athletes will have the financial support necessary going forward.

Time is of the essence to secure our team budget before October! It is crucial that we send a team to Santiago, Chile. It is our only opportunity for Canada to qualify a team for the Olympics next year. All contributions to this initiative are greatly appreciated and every donation no matter how small helps!
