2024 Grand Hotel Tax Fundraiser

Many of you by now have heard of my ongoing efforts to restore the Grand Hotel in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan.

This time capsule 1929 Prairie Hotel was near the end of it's life when I committed to restoring it as a way to bring purpose to my life as I struggled with my mental health. The plan is to re-open as an heritage experience hotel, with a high tea, theme nights and murder mystery parties. The building will also act as a venue for various events.

The hotel restoration is a marathon of determination and hard work. I am working often more than full-time hours as a CCA and doing deliveries to make this dream come true, and I could use your help.

I have been trying for over a year to receive tax forgiveness from the Town of Shaunavon and after numerous staffing changes and a full change in mayor and council, I have now hit a roadblock. The town doesn't feel tax incentives for commercial heritage building restoration is a plan they can get behind and now my taxes are overdue.

I will continue to lobby for changes but in the meantime would like to clear this debt to avoid further interest and potential liens.
