K9 Search and Rescue NI
Donation protected
K9 Search and Rescue formed in 2018 is made up of volunteers from across all walks of life in Northern Ireland.
At present we have a NASDU Level 3 Air Scent Search Dog - Max. Max in the short space of time we have been operational has helped locate a casualty before his Handler Ryan handed the casualty over to the care of HMCG and NIAS. Max also helped locate 2 deceased casualties, this part of our job is essential in recovering loved ones to bring them home to their families.
In Training-
In training we have several dogs across two disciplines. Live Air Scent and Cadaver.
Live Air Scent-
Luna - Nova - Baxter
Cadaver-
Rufus - Buddy
Live Air Scent works on a dog being trained to scent the gases a body releases while the casualty is still alive.
Cadaver works on a dog being trained to scent the gases in which a decomposing body emits.
In the world we live in unfortunately these dogs are vital members of our emergency services. These dogs are ( when certified ) taskable 24/7 365 days a year.
Unfortunately unlike many other rescue organisations we are not government funded nor do we have a large charitable backing. We are volunteers who need your help in order to help others.
All of our work like all emergency services comes at a cost. We are seeking to acquire vital life saving medical equipment, First Aid Training, Water Rescue Training, a purpose finished Van amongst many other running costs.
We are voluntarily readily available to help bring a loved one back home. We can’t do it without you.
If you are a business or community group looking to sponsor the team get in touch, we will bring some of our 4 legged heroes over to meet your organisation.
Please give what you can and help us help the community.
Stay safe.
