(On behalf of the Guale family) #GUALESTRONG Raul Washington Guale Jr. 12/21/1985 - 5/10/2020 Raul Guale was a warrior. His family is an army of warriors too. They did not give up and fought until the end. He was too young to go and too good of a person, to just let him go without fighting every battle; even this last battle which seemed impossible to fight. Everyone fought for him, but he passed away on Mother’s Day. None of this makes sense! He is one more husband, dad, son, brother that falls victim of this virus. One more nurse, one more healthcare hero. He contracted the virus and his condition quickly declined- less than 48 hours after being rushed and admitted to Mather Hospital he was placed on a ventilator for life support. Unfortunately he continued to deteriorate and began Dialysis. But hope was the last thing his family lost. A light shined and a medicine— Remdesivir was their last hope. As a trial treatment this was only approved at certain hospitals. Stony Brook University Hospital which is only 6 miles away, was not an option since he would not resist the transfer. His family fought and exhausted every possible chance to fight for his life. His family reached out to everyone by writing emails and dozens of phone calls from local politicians to TV stations. Thanks to media exposure and calls from local activists and politicians, the process was rushed. They were able to speed up what seemed a long and complicated process. All the stars aligned for him and the prayers of many continued to help. Days later he received Plasma and later the trial drug Remdesivir at Mather Hospital- but despite all these efforts God had bigger plans for Raul. He leaves his family not only alone, but uncertain of what the future holds. He leaves his lovely wife Marissa suffering the loss of her loving husband, 2-year-old Aubree and 16-year-old Jasmine. His 2-year-old who would be too little to remember her dad and his 16-year-old who will cherish many fun memories; who are now faced with this nightmare and heartbreak. They will now have to live without him. A young father of two kids, dying and leaving his family is nothing but sad and real. Now the future of his daughters and his wife, who is also a nurse and like Raul, is uncertain. The Guale family needs your prayers for strength, but also financial help. Your contributions will help assist with burial expenses. Raul is no longer there to love and care for them and nothing will ever replace that. But this family now more than ever needs your financial support during this tragic time. Nothing will ever replace his care to his family nor his presence. But they need your help!!
