Whirlwinds Girls Ultimate 24hr Challenge ✨

THE CHALLENGE IS GOING AHEAD ON THE 1ST / 2ND AUGUST (NEXT WEEKEND) ⚡️ Hey ! ✨Thanks for viewing our page ✨ ✨Our names are Charlotte, Holly and Alice and we are wheelchair basketball players from the UK, we play for WAKEFIELD WHIRLWINDS WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL CLUB ✨ ✨Alice has been playing for three years, and was diagnosed at a young age with complex regional pain syndrome, and later on symptomatic hyper mobility and Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (poTS). She became a full time wheelchair user four years ago, but has used mobility aids most of her life. ✨ ✨ Holly has been playing for eight years, and was also diagnosed at a young age with Perthes disease which led to multiple operations and hospital visits, she has used mobility aids since she first walked and later on in 2016 was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome along with degeneration of the spine.✨ ✨Charlotte has been playing for around 6 years and is able bodied meaning she has no disabilities, she got into the sport through her school basketball coach and has never left. She is still able to play wheelchair basketball at national level alongside alice and holly.✨ ✨For us three, the opportunities and experiences that wheelchair basketball has given us is truly amazing, we have had the opportunity to go all the over the country from Wales to Scotland and to play for our county at the U15s and U18s Lords Taverner’s National Championships.✨ ✨If it was not for the Whirlwinds then we would never met and created this amazing bond we have as a trio, we often get told off at training for talking because we are so close !! ✨ ✨Whirlwinds has been with us at every step in our development over the past few years and we are so grateful for the amazing parents and especially coaches we have at whirlwinds with special mention of Steve our head coach. Through tough times whirlwinds training is place where we go to see each other and relax and most of all enjoy the passion of wheelchair basketball as a sport.✨ THIS IS WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP ✨✨ ✨Due to the devastating effect of Covid 19, we have not only missed out on the end of our season, but also are not able to see each other since we live around an hour away from each other and Whirlwinds is currently not open to train and play the sport we love.✨ ✨This is why we are participating as a trio in our 24 HOUR CHALLENGE, this is in place of our usual fundraisers which have not been able to take place and our challenge will consist of one of us always continually doing a basketball related activity such as shooting, dribbling or pushing etc ! As soon as the government and our prime minister say that it is okay to not socially distance we will be doing this but until then we are keeping in contact through video call and training hard in preparation✨ We want to give back to the club that made us who we are as both people and players on and off the court and we hope you can find it in you to donate and to share our fundraiser, remember every penny helps !!!✨ ✨The whole gruelling 24 hours will be live-streamed on our instagram which will be linked on this page closer to the event !!✨ ✨Thankyou x✨ Charlotte, Alice, Holly
