Help turn a 1910, 85ft ship to a Community Centre
Donation protected
Hi All,
This is a request for support from Octavian, Nicole, and several others from the livaboard boating community around the Salish Sea.
We have recently aquired the Callie Belle, an 85 foot motor yacht built in 1910, and are working toward transforming her into a community center, clubhouse and saloon on the water, and we need your help.
In her advanced age, the ship is in some disrepair. She'll need to go into drydock immediately and have parts of her hull replanked.
Her frame is solid, however, and her interior is just beatiful. She's like a little hotel on the water.
Once anchored in Salt Spring, she will serve as a community-building social hub for people on the water, and a retreat center for members and clients in municipalities across the Salish Sea.
Our long-term goal is to restore the Callie Belle to her former glory. Before that, though,, we need $3000 to pay for lifting her out of the water, and another $2-3000 for basic repairs so she doesnt sink.
We have already raised around $2000 to import the ship into Canada. We're pursuing a variety of funraising options incuding writing grants, finding partners, loans, etc... but we must rely on crowdfunding to provide a signifingant portion of our initial cost.
If you would like to help, no donation is too small.
If, instead, you want to volunteer your time, or have skills that could help the project, please contact [email redacted].
Thank you so much!
