Sweet Pregnant mom with 10 puppies left for dead

Hi everyone, Im here to share a story that happened all within the last 48 hours. How i came to rescue a sweet 4 year old pregnant dog who had been in labor for days with the unborn puppies being left for dead. I work at a veterinary hospital and I was called in to work yesterday. Half way thru my shift i hear the ER department talking about a poor dog who was pregnant and left for 3 days in distress during labor with no veterinary attention and the owners were going to put her down. Shes only 4 years old, very gentle and was very sick. All the puppies were assumed dead after so many days of mom being in distress. I could not let an innocent life be taken and let her be euthanized without giving her a fighting chance. I kept asking the doctors if there was any chance any of the puppies were alive. Everyone agreed they could not possibly be alive but at my request an ultra sound was done and 2 heart beats were seen. After the owner conceded to surrender their dog to me we went into Emergency surgery and we were all hands on deck trying to revive puppies. 7 did not make it. and In the process of writing this, 1 passed in my arms, and since posting another has also passed so 2 have survived. My heart is broken at how this momma and her puppies were neglected. So many more could've been saved if brought in sooner. Even with discount working at vet the cost of surgery and hospitalization for sick momma dog is quite a lot and already in the thousands.
