Wrongfully Shot In The Face

Hi, My name is Sharon Morara, daughter to Rose Oboga, and I am a 17 year old Minnesotan teen. On May 28th, I was peacefully protesting for George Floyd’s murder and against police brutality; I was wrongfully shot in the face. I DID NOT LOOT, I DID NOT THROW ANYTHING TOWARDS THE COPS. I was peaceful. We were protesting by one of the precincts nearby a target that was looted. There was a fence on both sides of the road we were protesting. The cops were at the other side of the road and protestors were on the side where target was. Also, there were some people in the middle of the road. The people were peacefully protesting before the police started throwing tear gas, resulting in them to throw it back to the police. After they started shooting, one almost hit me and my friend. All I remember was that I was standing by this tree, was about to turn around, and I got hit. I felt like I got sniped. THE COPS EVEN LOOKED LIKE THEY HAD GUNS to snipe people with. Afterwards, I got rushed to Park Nicollet Hospital. They couldn’t help me or get the plastic surgeons to come in because the hospital was on lock down due to the protesters or looters outside. We had to wait until 4 in the morning to get transferred to children’s hospital because the hospital units they had was being used for covid patients. They stitched me up at children’s, and I stayed there until 7 and was sent home. They said I would need to have plastic surgery to fix my lip and smile alongside with scar reduction. My mom is a single mom and she recently got the bill for the two hospitals I went to and the ambulance ride. On top of that, my mom has been looking for a plastic surgeon. Some of them take insurance and some don’t but the thing is most of them she has talked to require a down payment, so it’s been hard try to juggle which ones to pick and pay off. I’ve been going back and forth about doing this GoFundMe. I have been struggling with my mental health after this all happened and didn’t know how to feel having people I didn’t know contact me and having all this attention, but I know I need help and my mom needs help. If you guys can help out in anyway especially finding a surgeon it would help a lot. Thank you guys so much god bless ❤️
