22 Miles, 22 Hours, 22 Lives
22 veterans lose their life every day due to suicide. This number is constantly rising but raising awareness and funds will help counteract it.
On Memorial Day every year, thousands of athletes complete the “Murph” WOD. This is a great way to remember Michael P Murphy as well as many other veterans who have paid the ultimate price.
However; this year, my buddy Gilbert and I want to do something different. We want to do a workout in honor of all of the unnamed service members that are affected every day by suicide. Starting at 1000 on Sunday, May 24, we will be running one mile, on the hour every hour, until 0800 on Monday, May 25.
22 miles. 22 hours. 22 lives lost every day.
All money we raise will benefit Mission 22. Any size donation will help tremendously!
If anyone would like to join us virtually, please let me know!
More information about Mission 22 (Mission 22): Mission 22 is a non-profit who combats the ever rising veteran suicide rate. Every day, more than twenty veterans are lost to suicide. Mission 22 wants to bring that number to zero.It does this with three main programs; veteran treatment programs, memorials and national awareness. Mission 22 provides treatment programs to veterans for Post Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury and other issues they might be facing. It organizes events and builds memorials to create social impact and awareness for these issues. Mission 22 also has an Ambassador volunteer program for people to get involved as well. Ambassadors educate the public on veteran issues, help get veterans into Mission 22 treatment programs and create resources in their communities.
