Help Rebuild Special Education School in Ukraine

Dear Friends,

Please join us in our effort to rebuild a Special Education school in Kherson that has been severely destroyed by the war in Ukraine. School No. 1 referred to by locals as, Херсонська спеціальна загальноосвітня школа № 1 is a refuge for students with a wide range of developmental and educational needs such as Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Schizophrenia, and Autism. The school is an indispensable asset to the community, providing emotional support, life skills, and customized educational resources to 102 children grades 1 to 9.

The ongoing war in Ukraine and eight months of Russian occupation in Kherson has brought enormous devastation to the lives of the students, their families, and more than 30 faculty and staff. Due to multiple and repeated shelling of the city, the school suffered tremendous damage, making it impossible to safely conduct classes for months or even years to come. Please help us restore the school and the spirit and well-being of the students as they navigate a new reality after their lives were unjustly and irreversibly changed by the war.

We are working closely with the principal and staff to identify and address the most urgent needs in order to safely bring kids back to the classrooms. The school is in desperate need of a new roof, ceiling, windows, doors, electrical, plumbing, and more. Meeting or exceeding our fundraising goals will enable us to obtain the equipment needed to address our students' unique educational needs/disabilities, rebuild the medical office, and obtain gym/physical therapy equipment.
