Upsee walker and Dental Restoration
Our little man has been battling a rare form of epilepsy since he was 7 months old. In the past 4 years, he has had numerous visits to the neurologist, his primary care physician, the dentist, and multiple physical and occupational therapists. He just turned 4 at the end of July and has been seizure free for 7 months now. Due to the epilepsy, he suffers from developmental delays and hypotonic cerebral palsy (low muscle tone that makes it hard for him to sit/stand/walk). He is now at the point where he can sit on his own and uses a stander to gain muscle strength in his legs and core. We would love to get him an Upsee walker to help build his strength and get him used to the walking sensation. This will also help open up more possibilities for family outings. While shipping in the US is free, the cost for this device is comparable to most therapy items (IE: not cheap) and while we are paying his medical expenses, it leaves little room to save up for this and it is not covered under insurance. He is also in need of some serious dental work due to teeth grinding as he is seeking sensory input. This behavior is not something that we can prevent and is causing him to wear the hard enamel away from his teeth. The soft enamel and pulp is now exposed and he needs to undergo anesthesia and restorative dental work to have this fixed. While we have never asked for help with our family's needs before, now is the time and we will put aside our pride to do anything necessary to help our family and our son.
