Hello,
I am a student currently enrolled at Allegheny College. It's pretty small, and most, if not all, of its workers come from the surrounding town of Meadville.
There's one worker here, Jodi, who's probably one of the kindest people I've ever met. He works night shifts at the campus food court, and every time I see him, no matter how his day went, I never fail to see him smile.
I found out a couple of months back that his mother was having a myriad of health complications. Almost all of his money, including his savings, had gone to trying to sustain her hospital bills, and as a result he was left with next to nothing. A couple of days ago, I found out that his mom had just passed away, and that even though he was able to come up with the money for rent, his landlord is evicting him in a couple of weeks. Once this semester is over, he's going to have nothing left. Every time I talk to him, it hurts more and more seeing how much he's suffering. I hate that someone who only ever extends the utmost kindness towards the world is given so much grief. Whenever we sit and talk, it frustrates me to no end that I can't do anything for him. Which is why, I suppose, I turned to here.
I hear all the time of great campaigns on gofundme that raise money for great causes, and I want to be able to do the same for Jodi. He doesn't deserve half of what he's been put through, and I want to try to make it as easy for him as possible. If I'm able to raise any amount of money, I'm gifting it all to him. Maybe he'll be able to take care of that hole he's fallen into, or maybe he'll be given at least a little bit of a boost up. I just want to be able to do something in the last week or so that I'm up here.
