Aedan Ashby's Medical to Boston
Aedan Ashby (6 years old) was born in 2009 with Cloves Syndrome. Cloves Syndrome, a genetic overgrowth syndrome, affects about 150-200 people worldwide. Please see more here at Cloves Syndrome. For more about Aedan's story, see more here at Aedan's Caringbridge Site.
Since he was a few days old, Aedan has had dozens of surgeries and other medical procedures to help minimize pain and help him progress through life. He has made great progress over the years having overcome tumor removals, an emergency spinal surgery, amputations, and more.
Boston Children's Hospital has the Vascular Anomalies Clinic, which serves as the primary decision making group for most of Aedan's treatment. Also, every other year, people from around the world gather to learn more about Cloves Syndrome, and to encourage each other. Aedan has even made a 6-year-old friend, Ryan, that he really likes to spend time with (Ryan lives nearby in RI).
Aedan and his family have found the Cloves Syndrome community a very helpful group of encouraging people and parents, not to mention the importance of the VAC appointments and check ups for future procedues.
Because Aedan's family does not live in Boston (Omaha, Nebraska, actually), there is always a need to fund these medical and support group trips, and June 2016 is the next opportunity.
We ask for your support in helping us go to Boston this year. That is the purpose of this page. We hope to have the funds in time for the trip in mid-June, so we have a good 6 weeks to see what happens. We thank you for even considering this because we know that Aedan's story is just one in a million of important stories.
We will use any donated funds raised to buy plane tickets, find lodging, and secure transportation while in Boston.
Thank you,
Sjon, Georgette, Isabelle, Aedan, and Autumn
