Un Corazón por los catrachos. One Heart 4 Honduras

Dear Friends,
We are a group of teenagers from Honduras living in New Orleans, and we are calling on you for support right now after Tropical Storm Eta ravaged and destroyed our communities back home in Honduras this week. We are raising funds to help our families, friends and loved ones who have lost family members, and are stranded without food, shelter, medical help, or any of the most basic necessities. Our goal is to raise $5,000 by December 1st.
Tropical Storm Eta has left many people without homes, and unfortunately without families. Many bridges have fallen, leaving entire communities defenseless. Entire villages have been flooded. Already in Honduras, the vast majority of the population lives in extreme poverty, and the catastrophic conditions left by Tropical Storm Eta have exacerbated the situation even more.
I’m Maryuri , and I grew up in one of these communities. When I was young, my family and I moved from place to place, never having somewhere to call home. I know and feel what it is like to lose everything in just seconds.
Since I was a child, my motto has always been with God’s help, everything can be done. I have a home now, in New Orleans, and am in a place where I can make a real difference. I want something better for our Honduran families back home. I want them to be able to express themselves, and be able to move through this with strength, because right now they feel like they have no life, like any hope has been washed away.
We want to ask each of you to collaborate with us to help our community there. We have a team, led by Cristi Rosales Fajardo , on the ground there right now organizing and providing in this emergency situation - buying formula for babies, buying water and food, renting hotel rooms, buying diapers, shoes and clothes, buying temporary shelter beds and bedding, etc. The smallest and the largest donations will make a huge difference in many lives.
My friends and I are asking you to join us in dedicating ourselves to making this planet a better world. Please help us help our families in Honduras right now. When we come together, and unite through our shared understanding and compassion - this is how real change happens. We believe in this. We want to make a difference, starting right here, right now.
