Hello everyone, My name is CJ Jessup. I live in South Minneapolis. I am a proud father of 6 adult children and 10 grandchildren. I started a program called #2ndChanceProject to provide 2nd Chance opportunities to individuals coming out of incarceration, state hospital facilities, and those who are currently experiencing homelessness. Our vision, goal, and passion is to help these individuals integrate successfully back into our communities. Over the past year we have housed over 80 individuals/families, and continue to follow up with aftercare services. I have been doing this line of work for well over a decade here in the Twin Cities. IT IS MY OPINION, systematic racism has been a on-going concern/conversations which has contributed towards major barriers for individuals of color deserving a 2nd Chance after paying their debts back to society. For the past year we have been operating our program out of a hotel in Brooklyn Center, MN. Program funding was received through the CARES funding, which since has been depleted. Services included; providing housing, 24/7 supervision, support, mentor ship, community involvement, and everyday positive role model support. Our program model is being developed to implement family structure, self discipline and personal development. Our goal is to help residents develop skills to work as a community and become better role models. We will engage in activities that will help rebuild our communities, promote health and safe living. I am reaching out for support to complete #2ndChanceProject. I have been unsuccessful in securing financing with a financial institution. We have been provided an opportunity to hopefully purchase a building, with hopes of creating a multicultural space to provide more resources to a multitude of people.
