Gabriel and Fran's Medical Fund
Donation protected
My sister Frances Constantino and brother in law Matt Sletten had a beautiful baby boy on 4/25/2016. They named him Gabriel Vincent. After a very rough pregnancy and complications resulting from preeclampsia, he was born 27 weeks prematurely via emergency c-section, weighing only 1lb 7oz, but the doctors were confident he would survive after a couple months in the NICU. According to the doctors, plenty of babies had been born at 20 or 21 weeks and had survived. So we were very hopeful. He was doing well and actually gaining weight after the first few days. On day 5 we were told he would need surgery to repair something in his intestines. When the doctors went in, they could not find what they were looking for. Then they went in a second time that night and found a hole in his stomach. They could not repair the hole nor control the bleeding. After many attempts to revive him, Gabriel passed away in the early morning of 5/1/2016. He lived only 6 days but was already such a big part of our lives. This was Fran and Matt's first child, and they were so happy to be parents. Now they are experiencing something no parent should ever have to go through. Losing Gabriel has left a huge hole in our hearts, but the overwhelming support we have received from friends, family, and total strangers has meant the world to our family, especially to Fran and Matt. They have received so many flowers and cards, in addition to the generous food donations. Many continue to ask what they can do to help. At this time what is needed most is monetary assistance to address the substantial medical bills that continue to pile up. Any donations to this fund are welcome and greatly appreciated. Thanks again to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers.
