Megan's Hip Surgery/ Recovery Fund

My name is Megan Mund-Burke, I am 25 years old, work for a mental health clinic in Sacramento, love to paint and be crafty ,cuddle my kitty and spend time with my loved ones. On November 13, 2014 I was sent to urgent care due to my office manager noticing I was walking strangely, and my life changed that day. Right now I need surgery to restore my hip and do not have funds to gain access to the surgery. At he time I lived in Grass Valley, CA at a mental health clinic for the same company. I spent most of my day driving, delivering medications and assisting client's with their needs in the community, which aggrevated my hip and caused my injury.
Over the next year I was under the care of Worker's Compensation and I was sent to physical therapy, x-ray's, MRI's, tried multiple medications and after a year, in October 2015 I was finally approved to see an orthopedic surgeon. He informed me I had a bone spur on the ball of my left femur and my laberum was most likely torn. The orthopedist ordered surgery, stating that there was nothing else that would heal my hip and Work Comp denied my entire claim, after a year, stating I had a pre-existing condition.
I was devestated.
Since then my symptoms have increased, I am no longer able to do the things I enjoy, like exercise, go for walks or go swimming. I have chronic, sharp, smoldering hip pain and it has taken away my ability to be active and has increased exponetially. My recovery time has gone from 6 months to a year due to the amount of time my injury has been present.
I got a lawyer, who took my case on regardless of it being denied and appealed my Work Comp case, gave a deposition. and saw a third party doctor, who was designated to decide if my case was caused/ aggrevated by my work. I saw him on March 2nd, 2016 and was told my report would be completed and submitted to my lawyer within 45 days. The report has been with Quality Management since April 19th and my lawyer has tried to get the report, to no avail. I need this report submitted to move forward with my treatment with Work Comp, to know what options I have.
I advocated for myself and I received treatment through my Family Doctor in good faith that my Work Comp benefits would be re-instated in time for surgery.
My orthopedic surgeon once again ordered surgery and I am currently scheduled for June 7th. After a year a half of not giving up, I have a date!
Unfortunately, the orthopedic office will not perform the surgery until I pay my co-pay, which is approximately $2000, and I am required to take 2 weeks off, with a year of recovery ahead of me. The rest of the money will got o bills, medications, physical therapy and follow up doctor visits. I am not financially ready for this surgery but I need it, and I thought that I would have my Work Comp benefits available to me by now. My bone spur effects my physical being, mental health, ability to be active and perform my job to the best of my ability.
At this point I can't depend on Work Comp coming through and I need support to make it through the recovery. I've given this all I've got and I am asking for help from kind souls that have the means to help. I need the money for the surgery co-pay and money to support myself while I am recovering.
This surgery means I will have my body back and be able to engage in the activities I love, like swimming, taking a walk and lifting a bell again, without being in pain and bringing damage to my body. This means the world to me, being able to be me again.
Any help is beyond recognized and nothing short of a miracle. I thank you deeply in advance for any help you offer. This gives me the opportunity to gain back my life and the ability to start reaching for my goals, along with enjoying the little things of everyday life. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Megan MB
