Scott's Medical Assistance

Around 1:00 am Thursday morning, a random act of cowardice violence left my father's house riddled with bullet holes. To our misfortune, one of those bullets found it's way to my father (Scott) who was resting on the couch in his living room. The bullet entered his back, traveled through his spleen, into his diaphragm and was left lodged close to his heart. After being rushed to the trauma center, the operation was successful in removing his spleen, the slug, and repairing his diaphragm.
Our family counts their blessings that the surgery was successful and we are fortunate to attempt returning to a normal life once Scott completes what is expected to be a strenuous and extensive recovery.
For those of you that haven't had the pleasure of sharing a beer with my father, I feel a brief introduction is in order. Scott is an architect and an artist that does it all. Clearly a "right brain" individual, a short encounter with this man's presence and you become intrigued with his homogenous mixture of an outlook that is humorous yet creative. Known as "Pops" to all of the boys that grew up spending our youth hanging out in the household, he never hesitated to embrace his childrens' friends as his own. Father to two (actual) sons and daughters, he is no stranger to a large and loving family atmosphere.
Which brings us to the purpose of this fundraiser: whether you've been considered family yet or not, my immediate family needs some help. Due to my father being an architect and working for himself, he lacks the insurance coverage that would cover such a devastating freak accident. With medical bills and the addition of missed work while he is recovering from his surgery, the hole we fall into as a family only seems to be getting deeper. He only had his surgery yesterday, so we have yet to receive any sort of billing, but through research we are expecting a 6 figure bill.
"For a patient with a gunshot wound, a single surgery followed by two days in the intensive care unit runs about $100,000"

Now I wasn't sure where to set the "goal" of this fundraiser, as a family we've always valued never asking for handouts; but in this case I personally find it necessary. Anyone capable of helping "Pops" get back on his feet and my family from taking a devastating financial hit is very much appreciated. Whether it be a single dollar, you can expect a giant hug of appreciation from myself if feasible. If you aren't able to donate, please hit share in the least to help promote the fundraiser. Thank you from the bottom of my heart in advance for everyone's assistance and consideration in these rough times. We'll do our best to stay positive, just make sure you tell the ones you care about that you love them every chance you get.
