On September 5, 2014 my daddy (Rodney Sikes) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Oh how our lives were turned upside down! After getting a biopsy and several testings done we learned that he also had liver cancer. After several rounds of that horrible chemo treatment we received some pretty good news, in December, daddy's tumor marker started out at 3,000 and had dropped to 300! Only by the grace of God and friends and family who prayed for him. By March he had some more blood work done, and our God once again provide HE was in charge, the tumor marker dropped even more..down to 68. Amazing!
On August 12th daddy went to the doctor to get his results from a CT scan he had the day before. This time we did not receive any good news. The results showed that his tumor marker has gone up some. So at this point the chemo has done all it's going to go for him.
Since September 5th my daddy has been on a rollor coster ride that hasn't slowed down. Never in a million years did I picture my daddy having cancer and having to live his life from day to day wondering if he will have energy to even eat or get out of the house for a little bit. We have been so blessed with many friends, churchs' and our family from love offerings and most of all the prayers!
None of us are promised the next second of our life. We should all live our life as if its the last day. I have a two year daughter who is a pawpaw's girl. Not knowing how long we will have to make memories with my daddy we would love the help of anyone who can and is willing to help donate money to take my daddy on a few trips.
He wants to go to the beach to build sand castles with Bailey Rae, he wants to relax by a creek in the mountains, and he wants to see the excitment on Bailey Rae's face at the zoo. There isn't nothing more in this world than the love we have for our family. We can't take materialized things with us when we go, but memories will always hold a special place in our hearts. God bless each and everyone of you for your love, thoughts and prayers.
