GSA trip to Philly Trans Conference

Your funding will provide the opportunity for trans, gender variant, gender questioning, and gender non-conforming youth from Academy for Young Writers to learn, grow, and connect with others like them at the Philadelphia Trans Health Conference.

Why go to Philly? The Philadelphia Trans Health Conference provides a space unlike any other conference in the US. According to the Philadelphia Trans Health Conferences web site, “The Philadelphia Trans Health Conference focuses on the health and well-being of transgender people and their communities. Now in its 15th year, the conference draws a diverse group of over 3,500 people of many gender identities and expressions from across the country and around the globe." https://www.mazzonicenter.org/trans-health/conference
Where will my money go?
Amtrak tickets for students and chaperones cost $80 per person round trip. Or we will rent a bus for $900 total. Amtrak will save us time. The bus may save us money depending on how many students sign up.
Breakfast and Snacks $10 per person
Dinner $10 per person
The more money raised the more students can have their travel expenses and meals fully covered.
Any additional money raised beyond travel expenses will go towards essential items for trans students to purchase at the conference such as binders, gaffs, educational materials etc.
Go Fund Me and We Pay take 7.9% + $0.30 per donation (About $80 for $1,000 raised).
