Bassi's Busted Bones

Donation protected
My Name is Adam and I am a good friend of Brennan Bast. The end of April, one early morning, Bassi (as his friends call him), was out on the hill training for his upcoming trip to follow the World Cup Tour through Europe, when an unfortunate series of events took place that would result in him suffering spinal injuries, potentially paralyzing the young legend.

Our community enjoys the thrill of going downhill! With any action sport, the risk is high and we all know what we sign up for the moment we get into it. It's all calculated risks and for the most part, these risks are very controlled.

This one morning, his line was a little different from the previous runs, and he ended up on the outside of a dirty turn, resulting in a slide toward a drain, head first.

At first sight, his helmet saved his life. Upon closer inspection, the design of the helmet actually acted as a brace for his neck, transferring the load into his shoulders and back.

Transported to hospital and the diagnosis was that he didn't need surgery but had fractured T5, T6 and T7 vertebrae and was very lucky to not have been paralysed. He now spends the next 8-10 weeks in a body brace with no movement.

Bassi has just married his sweetheart, Taylor, and are the proud new owners of their first home. This was to be a project for the both of them to work at over the next few months before their honeymoon, but now, the work won't get done without the support from his friends and family. He's a Landscaper so isn't a stranger to the hard work and was enjoying the challenge of the renovations but the next few months with no to little movement, he wont be able to lift a finger. That being said, Taylor needs to take time off work and is now full time, caring for for the big fella during this time of absence.

I guess, as a community, we all come together in time of need and its this "family" feel that keeps me stoked to be part of it all! What I would like is to offer this opportunity to those that have met, skated or shared a laugh with him, to find it in their hearts to help out however they can.

He's an absolute legend, so humble and sincere
so the idea of taking anything from anyone, just isn't in his nature. This is why this needs to be done. These guys need help and that's the bottom line.

Lets help them out by making this project house a home for a family!
