Jambo!
My name is Katelyn Harrold and I am studying Primary Education at the University of Notre Dame. Come the end of the year, myself and 34 other students have been selected to volunteer in rural Nakuru, Kenya.
Most of our time will be spent working closely with Aberdare Ranges Primary School. The school was originally founded to meet the critical need for education in this poverty stricken community. The students who attend this school are selected based on conditions to determine the poorest children in the communities.

We will also be spending time at the Miti Mingi Children’s home. The home was founded 5 years ago, after these children were discovered living in a dumpsite fending for themselves. 120 orphans live in this safe and loving home, and also attend Aberdare Ranges Primary.

The money raised will be going towards much needed school resources and educational supplies, and medical attention for these children.
We are also raising money to help other members of the community. Continuing on with previous Notre Dame students going on this trip, we will be taking over birthing kits for women who don’t have the option to deliver in a hospital. These kits consist of the bare essentials to have a child; a plastic sheet to lay on the ground, soap, gloves, a sterile blade, pieces of cord and a baby blanket. Your money will make this possible.
What I ask of you, is to please help us, help these people! Every single dollar raised will be going straight towards making the lives and futures a brighter, safer and happier place.
Whatever amount you can spare, you will be making all the difference :)
