Bryce Barber's Kidney Surgery

About two months ago Bryce went to the emergency room with severe side and abdominal pain. After hours and hours of testing he found out that he was having some complications with his kidney. With more testing it was realized that Bryce's kidney is located in an abnormal position. The technical term is "ectopic kidney syndrome." Essesntially 1 in every 1000 people have this birth defect in which 1 or 2 of their kidneys aren't in the right position in their body. Some people can go their whole lives and never have any issues, and some like Bryce, get complications during their lifetime. Because his kindey is in an abnormal position, it cannot drain properly and the blockage is causing intense pain, which could lead to permanent, irreparable damage and kidney failure. 

After all the testing was done, it was deemed that Bryce would need invasive surgery to fix the problem with his Kidney. A specialst researched a rare procedure that would effectively fix the problem with the drainage. On February 10th, Bryce went into surgery at Bozeman Deaconess hospital. Afterwards it seemed like the surgery was successful. Bryce spent a week in the hospital recovering and spent an additional 6 weeks at home on bedrest. 

Two weeks ago, on April 26th, Bryce went to the emergency room again with the same symptoms of intense pain. After more tests, it was revealed that the originaly surgery did not work. Bryce now has to go to a specialist in Salt Lake City, Utah and have another surgery done on his kidney. **UPDATE This surgery will was scheduled for May 18th, however the surgeon and insurance company had to push the date back. It has been rescheduled for Thursday, June 9th.

This go fund me page is to help pay for Bryce's medical expenses. We're hoping to raise $15,000.
Although the insurance is paying for some, Bryce is now paying for 2 kidney surgeries. There is also the cost of recovery and the expensive medication he has to take after the surgery. We're also hoping to help pay for Bryce's travel arrangements to and from Salt Lake City.  And finally for Bryce's lost wages as he will be on another 6 weeks of bedrest while he heals. (12 weeks total from the first surgery).

For anyone that knows Bryce, he is one of the kindest most giving people out there. Not only is he an Army Veteran in the National Guard of Montana, but he just passed his EMT test, and before all the kidney complications he has experienced, has been waiting to be well enough so he can work full time helping those as an EMT responsder.
