Hearing for Annie
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Diana. I'm a single mother of a free spirited, outgoing almost 8 year old girl named Anna Elizabeth. Annie was born at 25 weeks and had many obstacles set in front of her. Her lungs were not developed fully, which she still struggles with to this day. She had three holes in her heart, a grade 4 bleed in her brain and her brain also was not telling her lungs to breathe. Through all the blood transfusions and months in the hospital she was finally able to come home. She had a long road ahead of her. Anna is also profoundly deaf. She recieved her first cochlear implant at 13 months and her second just shortly after. She has worked so hard in school to learn and understand language, on top of learning sign language. But now her "ears" are not working. The processors have finally quit working and we have done everything we can to fix them. She is in need of an upgrade and qualifies for one through Cochlear America's but the insurance refuses to pay for them. They feel that it's cosmetic and an accessory.
I work 50 plus hours a week and also have a 17 yr. old son with aspergers syndrome that I'm proud to say will gradute next year. I have tried all avenues and I am at a stand still. I can't even afford the deposit on her upgrades. The upgrades are $27,000 and I'm drowning in the medical bills. I would be beyond grateful for your help. The money would help purchase her new "ears" and pay off the medical bills. Anna is a true miracle baby and I'm so proud of how far she has come. She deserves so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
