New Water Tanks for Orphanage in Haiti
Donation protected
Orphelinat Refuge des Orphelins (Orphanage Refuge of the Orphans) houses and provides for 35 children of all different ages in the capital city of Port-au-Prince. It's located on a very busy road in an area with no running water. The orphanage used to have their own water, supplied from a well, which provided water for drinking, washing and cooking. Unfortunately, the water tanks have cracked and the pump needs to be replaced, which means the kids no longer have safe water.
All of your generous donations will go towards replacing this water system, thereby ensuring that these orphans have a fresh, clean water source. As most of you probably know, health and sanitation is a huge problem in Haiti, particularly in the overcrowded capital. Waterborne bacteria can be especially dangerous for the young, and for those whose immune system is already compromised by malnutrition or disease.
As a group of social work students from Fordham University, we will be visiting ORO while in Port-au-Prince as part of our service learning trip during spring break this year. With your help, we would love to be able to deliver and install a new water system for this orphanage. Clean water is an absolutely essential factor for these children to survive and thrive. Any amount helps!
