Public Annex

Public___Annex is a burgeoning non-profit organization in Portland, Oregon that hopes to provide accessible urban farming and arts programming, focusing on inclusivity of artists and farmers with developmental disabilities.
Our mission is to break down systemic barriers that prohibit marginalized populations from inclusivity by building a community around accessible farming and art programming.
We seek to utilize the spaces of other arts and urban farming organizations around Portland, Oregon to provide our programming. We believe that in partnering with other established organizations, we can further our mission of helping marginalized populations become included in communities and spaces that
they have not historically been able to access.
We desire to fully integrate the programming into the greater Portland community and help artists with disabilities to pursue urban farming and their artistic practice alongside other artists and farmers without disabilities. We formed Public Annex to pursue this mission at the beginning of 2016 and hope to launch full programming by 2017.
Those of us starting this organization have worked closely with many wonderful and talented people who are now being directly affected by the initiatives that are closing the doors of programs like Public_Annex, and we care greatly about how this will affect people's lives. The artists and farmers in our community will benefit greatly from a program like this, especially at a time when the state is cutting so much funding for these types of programs. We do not want to see our friends without the inspiration and community involvement that art and farming bring.
In order to get his project off the ground, we first need to raise funds to pay for our non-profit status. This, along with a few more dollars for consulting fees and a website, will make all the difference to our mission. If you donate now, we will be able to get the legal status we need to ask for donations, and start to raise awareness about Public_Annex.
