Emmett’s Top Surgery Fund

Hey! I’m Emmett and I’m a 24 year old trans man. I’m a student at the University of Arizona and I work at a local non-profit that offers resources, support, education, and advocacy for trans and gender-nonconforming folks in my community. I’m graciously asking for donations for my top surgery (a double mastectomy to create a more masculine appearing chest). I have been fighting constantly with my insurance for nearly two years trying to obtain coverage for this procedure. As of right now I’ve been denied coverage three separate times, with each of my many appeals denied as well. This decision was upheld under my insurance’s position that the surgery is cosmetic in nature, despite multiple letters from my doctors deeming it medically necessary. Due to the considerable size of my chest, I’ve had to bind consistently for years. This has left me with deep pains in my neck, back, and ribs, and has made binding more and more difficult as time goes on. Top surgery will eliminate the need for binding and allow me to finally live comfortably as my authentic self!! This fund covers the cost of the procedure, as well as aftercare expenses.
