24 Hour Isle of wight 106KM ultra Challenge
On April the 29th 2023, my self and my friends will be taking part in the Isle of Wight Ultra 106km in 24 hours around the isle of wight in Memory of Allan Reeve and will be raising money for Railway Children and will also be supporting Maggie’s wish, Maggie is 17 and has the most aggressive form of cancer (Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma Fusion-positive) in children. Unfortunately, treatment is limited and Maggie didn’t qualify for a trial drug but there are trials available in America. Maggie’s family are trying to raise enough money to send Maggie to America for treatment.
This year’s challenge will be tough, not only because of the 106km in 24 hours around the coast of the Isle of Wight (with 2000m of elevation thrown in) and my first ultra challenge but because I lost a close friend, Allan was signed up to take part in this challenge before his untimely death.
Allan passed away after a car accident last year and would take on these challenges each year for the Railway Children charity. The Isle of White challenge was Reevzi’s suggestion for this year and so, in his memory, we are going to take on and complete this challenge with him firmly in our hearts and minds throughout the tough challenge.
Allan worked in the Railway industry as do a number of us participating in the challenge. The Railway children do exceptional work for Children across the globe.
We appreciate the cost of living, times are tough for everyone but every pound helps. We can’t wait to smash these targets in Memory of Reevzi, help Maggie get the treatment she needs and support as many children as possible.
