24 Hours, 3 Peaks, 1 Cause - MMM

Donation protected
Sophie Shuttleworth’s life changed forever in July 2022 when she was put into an induced coma for three and a half weeks at The Grange University Hospital and was left “fighting for her life.”

Sophie was diagnosed and treated for viral meningitis. When Sophie came out of the coma she was paralysed and unable to speak due to the tracheostomy.

For Sophie to return home and provide independent living she will require considerably expensive adaptations, specialist equipment to aid her mobility and extensive rehabilitation to name a few.

As such, Sophie has created a personal GoFundMe to assist with these expenses. From the launch of this, her brother Robert and 13 of his closest friends have committed to raising additional funds by climbing 3 of the highest peaks in the UK within 24 hours.

The team taking on the challenge consists of friends and ex-rugby players that were part of the original Pill Harriers youth rugby team that was coached by Sophie's father Steve from when they were 12 years old.

Sophie recently published on her blog that she was only 4 years old when the team was formed and had always felt she had a team of big brothers.

The challenge will take place on Friday 28th July, where they will travel to Fort William, Scotland in preparation to climb the highest of the 3 peaks, Ben Nevis (1,345m). From there, they will travel down to the Lake District via support vehicle to climb the highest peak in England, Scaffell Pike (978m) before finally climbing Snowden (1,085m) the highest mountain in Wales, all of which, within 24 hours....

This gruelling challenge is going to test the team not only physically but mentally, all of which is an inspiration to Sophie's dedication and resilience.

Thank you for reading our story, your sponsorship is much appreciated and will contribute to Sophie's physical and mental well-being.

Please share far and wide.
